Sunshine Coast Hinterland Great Walk.
2006 - Environment Minister Desley Boyle officially
launched the 58km Sunshine Coast Hinterland Great Walk,
the fifth in the state's $10million Great Walks initiative.
Majestic rainforests, cascading waterfalls and rugged
bush landscape will be seen along the track. The walk,
which stretches along the picturesque Maleny-Mapleton
plateau, spans a total of 58kms and links some of the
Blackall Range's most scenic areas including Kondalilla
National Park, Maleny Forest Reserve, Mapleton Falls
National Park, Mapleton Forest Reserve and Delicia Road
Conservation Park. For those keen enough to tackle the
complete walk, campsites are offered along the way.
You could leave your car with us and we can arrange
for a taxi to take you to the start of the walk on the
northern side of Baroon Pocket Dam. If the complete
walk seems a little out of reach, all ages and abilities
are catered for with shorter distances offered including
easy 2km walks passing through open woodland ridges
and bridge crossings, taking you to spectacular views
of Obi Obi Gorge and Baroon Pocket Dam and its catchment.
and you can also join the walk at Maleny Forest Reserve
north of Flaxton Mill Road.
